The third annual Women’s March is set to take place on Jan. 19, 2019, with the main event returning to Washington, D.C.
Organizers told the New York Times about their plans after a politically tumultuous week involving a hearing and confirmation vote for President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who is facing sexual assault accusations by multiple women. Kavanaugh has denied all accusations.
Linda Sarsour, an activist and chairwoman of the Women’s March, told the Times that organizers’ inboxes are overflowing with emails from those “enraged” by the nomination, inquiring about the next march.
“Women’s March, where are you? When are we marching? Tell us when? Tell us where?’” Sarsour said, referring to what she saw in those emails.
After this year’s flagship event zeroed-in on the battleground state of Nevada, the main event for the third march will return to city where it began — in the nation’s capital. That march took place a day after Trump’s inauguration in 2017. Sarsour added that next year’s march will be accompanied by demonstrations in other cities around the world, similar to the last two marches.
“The #WomensWave is coming,” the organization says on its website.
