Right after her passing on Saturday, the price of Whitney Houston’s greatest hits CD jumped about 60 percent in price on iTunes. Some, including The Guardian, are crying foul, seeing it as a push to profit off of the singer’s death. An insider at Sony, the label which owns the majority of Houston’s music catalog, said that the rise in price was just a coincidence. Houston’s “The Ultimate Collection” was back to its originial price not long after the increase was noticed. That and “Whitney — The Greatest Hits” were two of the top selling albums on iTunes on Monday.
