A serial armed bank robber who was captured thanks to an alert reader of The Washington Examiner was sentenced to more than five years in prison.
Jerome Thomas, 65, admitted in August to 11 bank robberies over a 16-month period. From between November 2009 and March 2011, Thomas slipped the teller a note claiming that he was armed, “I have a gun in my hand and 2 pipe bombs in my bag. Give me 100s and 50s only NOW and no one gets hurt.”
