Ben Carson on why mainstream press won’t ‘take me seriously’

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson griped Monday that CNN reporters are often unfair to him, he said Monday afternoon in an interview with Newsmax’s Steve Malzberg.

During the 2016 presidential candidate’s appearance Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Carson was pushed by reporter Jim Acosta to clarify his position on using drones to secure the Southern border.

For Malzberg, Acosta’s questioning bordered on badgering. The same goes for when CNN’s Brianna Keilar tried to pin Carson down in June over his position on gay rights.

“Why does it seem that they do this to you?” the Newsmax host asked Monday.

“Because they don’t want people to take me seriously,” Carson said. “And they’re very afraid of my message getting out there, because it flies directly in the face of the secular progressive movement.”

“I am a huge threat to them,” he added. “Therefore, if they can find the chink in the armor and they can concentrate on that, they can get you off the things that are so important for this country.”

Malzberg asked Carson to clarify whether his comments are in reference to media as a whole or just CNN in particular.

“The liberal media in general, but certainly the people you just mentioned are problematic,” Carson said.
