The West Virginia nonprofit official who called First Lady Michelle Obama an “ape in heels” will go back to work this month after being suspended for the racist remark.
The Charleston Gazette-Mail reported Monday that Pamela Taylor, the director of the Clay County Development Corp., will return to work on Dec. 23 after being indefinitely suspended for her Facebook post about Obama.
Taylor said, following the election of President-elect Trump, “It will be so refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady back in the White House. I’m tired of seeing a (sic) Ape in heels.”
Taylor posted the comment about Obama on her Facebook and received an approving response from the mayor of Clay, W.Va. That mayor resigned after a public outcry.
According to the paper, the Clay County Development Corp. is a private nonprofit group that provides service and financial assistance to elderly and low-income residents of Clay County. It’s the county’s second largest employer.
