Daily Mail editor David Marktosko drops from consideration for Trump press shop

Daily Mail editor David Marktosko confirmed on Tuesday he was a candidate for a job as press secretary or another role in the in the Trump administration press shop in a statement.

“I was honored to briefly discuss the possibility of joining President Trump’s administration as press secretary or in another senior role,” said Marktosko, U.S. political editor for Daily Mail. “At this time, however, I have chosen not to take the discussions further.”

The Trump administration is looking to make changes to its communications team. Along with Marktosko, Fox News contributor Laura Ingraham has also reportedly been considered to replace Sean Spicer as press secretary.

“I have one of the best jobs in political journalism. And I look forward to continuing in that role with DailyMail.com,” Marktosko said.
