First Cruz-Fiorina ad to air in Indiana, ‘fight the system’

Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign unveiled a new TV ad introducing his running mate, Carly Fiorina, to viewers in Indiana as she defended him as a conservative who fights the system.

The 30-second spot showed Fiorina framing the election as Cruz versus Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

“Neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump will fight the system, because they are the system,” Fiorina said in the ad. “Ted Cruz is a conservative. A fearless defender of the Constitution who’s taken on Washington and won. He’s tested, trusted and ready to lead, and I am honored to join Ted Cruz as his running mate.”

Trusted Leadership PAC, a super PAC supporting Cruz’s presidential bid, also increased its spending in Indiana on Thursday to put an ad featuring Fiorina on the air. The super PAC added $350,000 to its existing $1.6 million ad buy in Indiana.

Cruz campaigned in Indiana on Thursday and made joint appearances with Fiorina in Fort Wayne and Elkhart. He will visit South Bend in the afternoon.
