NEW ORLEANS (AP) — More details about the 2013 Essence Festival have been released, giving fans another look at the talent in store for the music and cultural celebration.

Organizers say the festival opens Friday, July 5, with R&B powerhouses Jill Scott and Maxwell as well as rapper LL Cool J and Brandy headlining the nightly concerts at the Superdome. On Saturday, Charlie Wilson, New Edition, Trey Songz, Keyshia Cole and Solange will entertain fans on the mainstage.
