Comedian James Corden apologized for attempting to kiss ex-White House press secretary Sean Spicer on the cheek after the Emmy Awards on Sunday night, after facing a public backlash for the photograph.
“Now I know you think that’s a picture of me kissing Sean Spicer but, in the spirit of Sean Spicer, no, it isn’t,” Corden joked on Monday night’s episode of his CBS talk show, the “Late Late Show.” “Anyone ever have that feeling when you get a little drunk and then wake up the next morning and think, ‘Oh God, who did I kiss last night?’ It’s a bit like that.”

“Everyone was kissing ass” at the 2017 awards ceremony and after-parties held on Sunday in Los Angeles, Calif., Corden said.
“I just happened to kiss the biggest one there,” he added.
Corden, famous for his popular “Carpool Karaoke” series, said he understood why some people were disappointed with the image.
“In truth, I am disappointed by it as well,” the British comic continued before saying he needed “to learn how to shake hands.”
Spicer made a surprise cameo at the Emmys to poke fun at his inauguration crowd size declaration in the first week of the Trump presidency. Although many in the audience appeared amused by his bit, political reporters took to Twitter to express their disapproval.
