Gretchen Carlson and 5 other former Fox employees call for company to release them from NDAs

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson joined five other former employees in asking the company to release ex-staffers from their nondisclosure agreements.

NBC announced Friday that the company would allow former employees to be released from their NDAs to discuss any sexual harassment they suffered without legal backlash.

This decision followed the release of Ronan Farrow’s book Catch and Kill, which alleged that NDAs were used to silence victims from coming forward.

Carlson and other former employees have asked Fox News to do the same.

In a statement to Vanity, Carlson said, “All women at Fox News and beyond forced to sign NDAs should be released from them immediately, giving them back the voices they deserve.”

She claimed the move would allow ex-employees to clear the record about their decision to leave the company.

“None of us asked to get into a workplace dispute,” Carlson said. “We simply had the courage to stand up and say something — but in the end it’s our voices no one can hear. Because of our NDAs, we can never say what is factually correct or incorrect about what happened to us at Fox.”

Carlson left Fox News after accusing CEO Roger Ailes of sexual harassment. She settled with the company for a reported $20 million.
