Arlington to host emergency preparedness forum

With the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks just months away, Arlington County officials will hold a pubic forum to discuss the county’s preparations for emergency and disaster efforts,

The Emergency Preparedness Advisory Commission will host the forum on May 10 at 7 p.m. in the County Board Room. The commission works to coordinate the emergency efforts of Arlington’s schools, businesses, and other non-government organizations with the county.

Officials are asking for feedback on the county’s handling of more recent emergencies compared with their efforts 10 years ago. The forum could take on new meaning with the killing of Osama Bin Laden, as officials warn of possible retaliation from his sympathizers in the wake of his death.
