Nancy Pelosi’s husband pleads guilty to DUI

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s (D-CA) husband has pleaded guilty to a DUI charge from his car crash and arrest in May, according to court records.

Paul Pelosi, 82, pleaded guilty to one charge of DUI and has been sentenced to three years of probation and five days in jail, with credit for time served, according to the records. He will also need to do eight hours of a court work program, participate in a drinking-and-driving course that will last for three months, use an ignition interlock device for a year, and pay $150, according to TMZ.

On May 28, Pelosi crashed his Porsche into a Jeep near Yountville, California. According to authorities, he failed his sobriety test and was not steady while being taken into custody. Afterward, it was discovered that his blood alcohol content level was 0.082%.

“His eyes [appear] red/watery, he was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath,” read a criminal complaint acquired by the New York Post.

On Aug. 3, Amanda Bevins, Pelosi’s lawyer, appeared on his behalf for an arraignment at a Napa County court and entered a plea of not guilty to one count of DUI causing injury and one count of driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08% or higher causing injury, Fox News reported.

A new report regarding Pelosi claimed that he is linked to a company that saw millions in loans forgiven through the Paycheck Protection Program, which was a national mainstay at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to help small businesses make their way through a marred economy. However, several elites also participated in the program, with him possibly being one of the beneficiaries, according to the report.
