Former Ronald Reagan speechwriter and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan, who once called on the GOP to stop defending President Trump’s tweets, has become the target of one.
“Peggy Noonan, the simplistic writer for Trump Haters all, is stuck in the past glory of Reagan and has no idea what is happening with the Radical Left Democrats, or how vicious and desperate they are. Mueller had to correct his ridiculous statement, Peggy never understood it!” Trump tweeted Sunday, shortly before visiting a church to pray.

Noonan penned an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal Thursday in which she called for Congress to censure Trump as a form of “rarely used shaming.” The article came in the wake of special counsel Robert Mueller’s first public statement about his investigation, which spurred more calls by Democrats for Trump’s impeachment.
“The harrowing part of the Mueller report is part 2, on obstruction of justice,” Noonan wrote. “Reading it, you feel sure the president would have loved to subvert the investigation but wasn’t good at it and was thwarted by his staff.”
Noonan wrote Reagan’s famous address to the nation after the space shuttle Challenger exploded in 1986. Since the emergence of Trump, she has been a center-right commentator who hasn’t shied away from criticizing the president, including labeling him as a “drama queen.”
