Obama gave ethanol lobby early Christmas present

Re: “Obama: U.S. must curb dependence on foreign oil,” March 31

President Obama has been doing a lot of explaining lately. Last Monday saw him justifying his war in Libya — his opportunistic gift to the military industrial complex. The following Wednesday found him defending his war on oil — a Christmas present for the ethanol lobby.

The president’s rationalization campaign may entertain some, but most Americans have already realized that he considers their economic problems less important than his political ones.

Obama has a job, but he’s forgotten that 10 percent of Americans don’t. He can pay attention to America’s unemployment numbers now, or personally add to them in 2012.His choice.

Courts are run like a business

Re: “Citizens have the power to fight court corruption,” March 16

Judges and public defenders do whatever they want, and the accused are not always given a fair trial. Some are even sent to jail for crimes they did not commit.

This article made me realize just how corrupt the court system is. It is run like a business by judges, attorneys, public defenders and detectives who all do favors for each other no matter how it affects a person’s life.

The court system needs more honest people who truly have the best interest of the citizens in mind.

Obama’s policies put Israel in grave danger

The collapse of Hosni Mubarak’s regime in Egypt and the growing turmoil in nearby Jordan and Libya are ominous signs for Israel. History is repeating itself, and a domino-style collapse of moderate Arab regimes could lead Israel to war, just like it did in 1948.

Contact between Egypt and the rest of the civilized world will be determined by the Egyptian army, now under pressure by the Islamic Brotherhood both in and out of Egypt. This group traces its existence to the Mahdi’s Army in Sudan, which wiped out the British forces under the command of mercenary Gen. Charles “Chinese” Gordon. Field Marshal Horatio Kitchener had to lead a punitive expedition to eradicate the religious zealot forces.

The lack of mature, experienced and competent leadership by President Obama is stunning. He has sold out Egypt and will sell out Israel next. His shift to support the Islamic Brotherhood instead of Mubarak will have dire consequences for Israel, which will face a regional war that could put it in grave danger.
