Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is set to deliver the confirmation oath to his soon-to-be colleague, Judge Amy Coney Barrett on Monday evening.
A senior White House official confirmed the news about the conservative justice to multiple outlets.
Typically the chief justice, in this case John Roberts, is the one to swear in new members to the court.
The Senate will vote Monday evening on whether to confirm Barrett to the court. Republicans appear to have the votes they need to overcome opposition by Democrats and the two independent senators who caucus with them.
President Trump told reporters that while there will be a celebration, it won’t be large and will be “just a very nice event.”
