Prior to the school shooting, Gonzales, 66, was shot in the face on May 24 after reportedly getting into a fight about a phone with her grandson, Salvador Ramos, after which she emerged from her house bleeding and crying for help, according to her neighbor. She was upgraded to “fair condition” on May 29, but a relative reported that “she may never be able to talk again.”
