FBI aware of American Airlines pilot alleged UFO sighting

The FBI is aware of a report from an American Airlines pilot who said he witnessed a UFO while flying over New Mexico on Sunday, the agency announced.

Cockpit audio from American Airlines flight 2292, which traveled from Cincinnati to Phoenix, revealed a pilot reporting a “long cylindrical object” passing over him during travel.

“While our policy is to neither confirm nor deny investigations, the FBI works continuously with our federal, state, local, and tribal partners to share intelligence and protect the public. Anyone who is aware of suspicious or criminal activity should contact their local law enforcement agency or the FBI,” the bureau wrote in a statement.

“Do you have any targets up here? We just had something go right over the top of us,” one of the airmen said. “I hate to say this, but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing moving really fast right over the top of us.”

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the authenticity of the broadcast but told the Washington Examiner, “FAA air traffic controllers did not see any object in the area on their radarscopes.”

American Airlines also confirmed the veracity of the transmission, and the company implored the media to reach out to the FBI for further comment.

A pair of pilots flying for two separate companies, Phoenix Air and American Airlines, reported strange objects near New Mexico in April 2018. An abundance of military air bases are present in the Southwest state, but scheduling data did not point to the airmen witnessing a military plane.
