Fauci and Obama team up to encourage children to get vaccinated

Dr. Anthony Fauci and former President Barack Obama appeared at a pop-up vaccination site at Kimball Elementary in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.

The duo interacted with local children and their parents and promoted the COVID-19 vaccine, according to 7NewsDC reporter Victoria Sanchez.

Fauci has served as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, which includes Obama’s two terms in office.

Fauci and Obama each gave a speech about the importance of getting vaccinated before giving out stickers to children.

Some staff members at the school distributed books about Obama and Fauci to the children who attended.


Obama received his vaccine in March. He has publicly supported efforts to get people vaccinated.

In an interview with CBS’s Gayle King in May, Michelle Obama said she and her husband require individuals who visit the family to get the vaccine.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone ages 5 and older get a COVID-19 vaccine to help protect against the disease.

Washington, D.C., estimates that 79% of its population is either partially or fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
