One person was left injured after a single-engine plane crashed in the front yard of a New Jersey house on Monday afternoon.
The pilot and sole occupant of a 2006 Mooney M20M plane that had taken off from the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina, was transported to a hospital to be treated for a head injury, said Manville Police Lt. John Crater, according to NJ.com. The plane crashed around 1:00 p.m. several blocks away from Central Jersey Regional Airport.

The pilot of the plane, which belonged to the Guthrie Group, a consulting firm, had been attempting to land the plane when he was faced with a problem and tried to stop the landing, Crater said. During this time, the plane clipped a tree and started to spin and spiral downwards.
Crater said the pilot had managed to free himself from the plane and had made his way across the street by the time law enforcement officials showed up, according to the report.
Firefighters who responded to the crash were able to extinguish a small fire that had ignited in the plane, Crater said.

The plane was able to be hoisted and placed onto the flatbed of a towing truck.
