Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tested positive for COVID-19, her office announced Sunday.
The Democratic politician’s office released a statement saying she is experiencing symptoms and quarantining at home.
“Representative Ocasio-Cortez has received a positive test result for COVID-19,” the statement said. “She is experiencing symptoms and recovering at home. The Congresswoman received her booster shot this Fall, and encourages everyone to get their booster and follow all CDC guidance.”
Ocasio-Cortez was spotted in Florida enjoying a cocktail at Doraku Sushi without a mask while on vacation in Miami Beach on Dec. 30. Ocasio-Cortez came to Florida while her home state of New York accounted for an estimated 45% of all new positive COVID-19 cases in the United States that week.
The United States shattered its COVID-19 daily case record, reporting over 1,082,549 cases this past week, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
