The White House defended President Joe Biden’s fiery Atlanta speech on voting legislation Wednesday, saying critics of his rhetoric are “hilarious” and hypocritical.
Biden capped a trip to Georgia on Tuesday by framing the fight as a battle between good and evil and endorsed reforming the Senate filibuster if Republican lawmakers choose not to side with Democrats to pass election laws. The speech drew harsh criticism from prominent GOP senators, including Mitt Romney and Mitch McConnell. The latter called it “profoundly unpresidential.”
