Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi defended her leadership Sunday, saying she wasn’t going anywhere while her caucus was still fighting for Obamacare.
“When the president became president, I saw the threat to it,” Pelosi told ABC, referring to the healthcare bill she was instrumental in making law in 2010. “I said, ‘I gotta stay to take care of the Affordable Care Act.’ And that’s my fight, my mission, but also to have women, women at the table, at the leadership table.”
Pelosi came under fire earlier in October when Rep. Linda Sanchez of California, the fifth-ranking Democrat in the House, called for new management atop of the party.
“I do think we have a great array of talent,” Pelosi continued. “And I have promoted it all along the way. I think when you see some of the people who represent the House Democrats, like Adam Schiff and the rest, people I have promoted in the party, getting them ready. It’s up to the caucus to select its next leaderships. I enjoy the support of my caucus.”
