The Journal & Courier reports (http://on.jconline.com/PAkWfh ) the donation by 66-year-old Andris Zoltners of Evanston, Ill., is the largest cash gift for the department. Zoltners later became a professor and author known for sales force management and co-founder of a global sales and marketing consulting firm in Chicago.
The school added $1 million to the donation as part of an institutional matching program. That means the department now has $2.5 million to create an endowment for recruiting and retaining a top math professor.
