Talk radio food fight: Ingraham dings Hewitt as ‘most overrated’

Talk radio host Laura Ingraham took a dig at conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt’s radio show Friday after he likened Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., to Abraham Lincoln.

“Hugh Hewitt, one of the most – God bless him – overrated radio talk show hosts in the United States,” she said in comments flagged by Mediaite. “I mean, I know that does not sound charitable, but God bless you.”

Her remarks were made in reference to Hewitt’s appearance this week on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Hewitt heaped praise on Rubio, suggesting that the 2016 GOP presidential candidate has a really good shot at capturing the party’s nomination.

“Marco Rubio may be the most dynamic speaker the Republican Party has seen ever, actually, since [Abraham Lincoln],” Hewitt said.

Ingraham, a frequent and very vocal critic of Rubio, was not amused with Hewitt’s remarks.

“That’s Lincoln? Then somewhere Lincoln is doing a triple Lutz in the grave. Lincoln?” she added.

As one of GOP front-runner Donald Trump’s loudest and most eager supporters, Ingraham has gone after not just his primary opponents, including Rubio, but she has also knocked anyone in media who has questioned the casino tycoon’s White House ambitions, including Hewitt.
