Arlington County will kick off its design workshop — called a “charette” — for Columbia Pike Friday at 7 p.m.
The workshops will run through June 30 and are designed to educate residents about the current development plans for Columbia Pike and get their input about specific details.
County staff recently completed the Columbia Pike Land Use and Housing Study, which is part of the county’s effort to preserve low-income housing along the Pike while allowing for development. The charette will present the findings of the study.
The charette schedule is as follows:
- June 24, 7-9:30 p.m., Kick-off presentation, Sheraton National Hotel
- June 25, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Hands-on work session with breakout groups, Sheraton National Hotel
- June 26-29, 1-6 p.m. (Sunday), 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (Monday – Wednesday), Open design studio, Siena Park
- June 30, 7-9:30 p.m., Work in progress presentation, Sheraton National Hotel
