NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A special fare is available in December to celebrate the new Amtrak service to and from Norfolk.
Officials on Friday said $19 fares are being offered for tickets between Norfolk and Washington, D.C., and cities in between through Dec. 30. Travel must be booked by Dec. 17
Amtrak is beginning its new Norfolk train service Dec. 12.
The round-trip train will bring intercity passenger rail service to Norfolk for the first time since 1977.
The new route is expected to reduce congestion on traffic-filled interstates. The Norfolk station will be at Harbor Park in downtown Norfolk.
