Piers Morgan’s ‘Men’s March’ causes a stir on social media

After Piers Morgan became the target of fierce backlash for proposing a “Men’s March” in reaction to Saturday’s Women’s March in Washington, D.C., the former CNN host has canceled those supposed plans.

Early Saturday morning Morgan tweeted: “I’m planning a ‘Men’s March’ to protest at the creeping global emasculation of my gender by rabid feminists. Who’s with me?” He was referring to the Women’s March, taking place one day after the inauguration, for which hundreds of thousands of marchers made their way to Washington, D.C., to express their concern about women’s rights under President Trump.

Morgan’s tweet was immediately condemned by many social media users.

“@piersmorgan oh, possum. Sorry your masculinity is so fragile. Are you ok? Do your balls jus fall off when a woman doesn’t smile at you?” one user wrote back.

Others came to Morgan’s defense.

He later tweeted an “UPDATE” Saturday afternoon, saying, “I am cancelling my Men’s March against male gender emasculation. My wife’s banned me from going.”

It’s unclear how serious Morgan was about the “Men’s March,” though he did say it would be starting at the Saudi Embassy. He also tweeted out that he’s also “opening a new clinic, Trump Tantrums Anonymous, for demented Donald-haters. No fee for celebrities because they love freebies.”

While he said he supports women’s rights, Morgan slammed the march as “an anti-democratic protest at Trump winning the presidency.”

Morgan, who has a picture of him appearing with Trump, defended the president’s record with women, telling detractors to give him a chance before protesting.
