Susan Sarandon hits Clinton, Obama on fracking pipeline

Activist actress Susan Sarandon complained Thursday that President Obama and Hillary Clinton are being “awfully quiet” about an oil pipeline despite their professed concern about the environment.

“Everything about this pipeline is wrong,” Sarandon wrote in a Thursday tweet sharing an investigative report about the Dakota Access Pipeline. “Obama? Hillary? Awfully quiet for people who believe in climate change.”

Sarandon still shows her support for former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders with her current Twitter header photo. The Vermont senator has repeatedly spoken out against the project, arguing it would contribute to climate change. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has not addressed the issue and a number of green groups petitioned President Obama last week to intervene.

The actress joined a Native American-led protest in Washington DC against the 1,170-mile pipeline late last month after concerns its construction would pollute water and desecrate tribal land. The Standing Rock Sioux are suing the federal government alleging the tribe was not properly consulted about the project, and are demanding that additional construction be blocked until they can assess the environmental impact.
