Zombie Walk, Wine Festival in Silver Spring, Saturday To clarify, these are two separate events in Silver Spring, both on Saturday. Starting off, from noon to 6 p.m. is the inaugural Eat, Drink, Go Local Wine Festival in downtown Silver Spring. That will be followed in the evening by the annual Zombie Walk.
The wine festival will include, naturally, vino from Maryland-based wineries, as well as live music, food pairings and chef demonstrations. Lillian Buie, marketing director for Downtown Silver Spring, said the “local focal point” was an attractive reason to initiate a Maryland wine event.
Then at night, Silver Spring comes alive, or, well, undead, with the Fourth Annual Silver Spring Zombie Walk. The popular event draws hundreds of the undead, staggering up Georgia Avenue from Sligo to AFI Silver Theatre, in search of brains. At 9:45, AFI screens the zombie flick “Dead Snow.” Perfect to get into the Halloween spirit.
So, if you enjoy local wine, or hobnobbing with the undead, Silver Spring is a place to be Saturday.
When: Wine festival from noon to 6 p.m., Zombie Walk at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Info: Wine festival is free, or $15 for wine samples, $25 for food pairing; Zombie Walk is free, $11 for “Dead Snow”; downtownsilverspring.com, marylandwine.com, silverspringzombiewalk.com, afi.com/silver
