Comedian Craig Robinson was forced to cancel a performance at a North Carolina comedy club and evacuate the venue after a gunman opened fire in a chaotic scene, he revealed over the weekend.
The incident took place on Saturday evening around 9 p.m. EST at a local club called The Comedy Zone in Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Authorities said an unidentified man entered the comedy club at that time and brandished a firearm before making threats of bodily harm to several people in the venue. Police and venue staffers immediately evacuated the club before the shooter discharged his weapon inside.

The suspect, whom police say is a convicted felon, was arrested at the scene. There were no injuries.
Robinson, who is best known for playing Darryl on The Office, documented the experience on Instagram after being evacuated to a nearby venue where pop band Big Time Rush was performing.
“I’m performing at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina. There was an active shooter in the comedy club,” Robinson said in an Instagram livestream. “So, they moved us over — and the concert’s going on. It’s Big Time Rush. So, I thought I would share it with you all.”
“Again, there’s an active shooter at the club I was at, so we had to run over here to this concert,” he continued, motioning the camera toward the outdoor stage at the Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre as the pop group performed.
“Big Time Rush to the rescue,” Robinson joked.
The comedian and actor went on to say that he was safe and all was well in his entourage before revealing how he learned that he was in an active shooter situation.

“I’m safe, I’m cool. It was just wild. I was in the green room and they were like, ‘Everybody get out,'” he told his fans. “It was wild. It was a moment for sure.”
Robinson thanked authorities and the comedy venue for their fast work in apprehending the shooter in an Instagram post Sunday morning, which read: “About last night …Thank you to the Comedy Zone security and staff for getting us to safety quickly. Thank you everyone for your outpouring of support and well wishes. Thank you CMPD for swift action in apprehending the shooter. Hopefully he gets the help he needs. Thanks be to God no one was hurt. Please stay safe everyone.”
