Liz Cheney: Christian Bale blew his chance to play a real superhero

Rep. Liz Cheney said Wednesday that actor Christian Bale screwed up his chance to play a “real superhero” when he played her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, in the new movie “Vice.”

“Christian Bale finally had a chance to play a real superhero, and he clearly screwed it up,” Cheney, R-Wyo., said on Fox News.

Bale said during the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday that “satan” inspired his performance in the movie. But Cheney said she’s proud of her father.

“I’m obviously incredibly proud of my dad, very proud and honored to be his daughter,” she said, adding that she hasn’t seen the movie.

On Monday, Cheney fired back at Bale by wondering if Satan also inspired him to assault his mother and sister in 2008.

Bale won the Golden Globe Award for best actor in a comedy on Sunday for portraying Dick Cheney, and in his acceptance speech, he called Cheney a “charisma-free asshole.”
