‘Savages’: Trump lashes out at Democrats over impeachment inquiry

President Trump directed his fury at congressional Democrats on Saturday morning, accusing them of obstructing his agenda as more lawmakers back an impeachment inquiry.

Trump referred to House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, and a group of progressive congresswomen as “Savages” and “Do Nothing” Democrats.

“PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!” he wrote in a subsequent tweet.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Tuesday her caucus would launch a formal impeachment inquiry into the president over his interactions with Ukraine and the White House’s actions in concealing a transcript of Trump’s call with the Ukrainian leader.

Schiff said Friday that impeachment hearings could begin as soon as next week, but it depends on whether the whistleblower who sounded the alarm on Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is permitted to testify to lawmakers and if the committee obtains the full inspector general report on the whistleblower’s complaint.

During a July call with Zelensky, Trump urged him to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
