Donald Trump isn’t satisfied with his performance among male voters and would prefer to “set records with women” between now and the November election.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Albuquerque, N.M., Tuesday night, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee told a massive crowd he appreciates the support he’s attracted among male voters, but would be more enthusiastic about winning over women.
“I can tell you this — much less exciting for me fellas — they say I’m setting records with men,” Trump said with a heavy sigh. “That’s so unexciting to me. I want to set records with women, not with men.”
“The hell with the men, right? The hell with the men,” he added. “I want to set records with women.”
Moments before, Trump told the crowd he believes his message is resonating with women despite recent polls showing his favorability ratings at a record low compared to previous candidates in modern presidential elections.
“I keep hearing about this women thing. I think I’m doing really well with women, but what do I know?” he said.
Trump will head to Anaheim, Calif., on Wednesday for another campaign rally and his first organized fundraiser, which has been put together by the Republican National Committee’s newly minted Trump Victory Leadership Committee.
