Cynthia Nixon, a Democratic candidate for New York governor, urged voters on Monday not to knock her order of a cinnamon raisin bagel topped with lox and plain cream cheese until they had tried it.
“That’s my go-to,” Nixon said, according to Politico reporter Jimmy Vielkind. “It’s not uncooked oatmeal, but it’s pretty delicious. And I say, don’t yuck my yum. Don’t knock it ’til you try it. Sweet and salty, it’s an unbeatable combination.”

Social media pundits poked fun at Nixon for the order, made during a campaign stop in Manhattan ahead of her Sept. 13 primary against incumbent New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
She also defended her request to one of the employees behind the counter at Zabar’s, a deli on the Upper West Side, according to a Gothamist video of the encounter published online.
It was a lighthearted moment for Nixon in the final days of her campaign. On Sunday, she rebuked a New York State Democratic Committee flier that claimed she would not support Jewish communities if she were nominated, local news outlets reported. Cuomo denied on Sunday having any involvement with the mailer.
Nixon, who has secured New York Working Families Party’s gubernatorial nomination, trails behind Cuomo among Democratic voters in most polls.
Republicans named Marcus Molinaro as their nominee following their party convention in May.
