Gov. Ron DeSantis’s office declined an offer from The View to have the governor appear on the show and showed off a snarky response it sent.
The governor’s press team said it received an email from The View on Friday that said the show “would be honored” to have DeSantis as a guest, DeSantis deputy press secretary Bryan Griffin wrote on social media. A spokesperson for The View confirmed to the Washington Examiner it had sent the invitation.
“I understand that you are sending this request on behalf of your team,” Griffin wrote in an email shared on social media. “But are the hosts of the View really interested in hearing from Governor DeSantis about all of the important work he is doing on behalf of Floridians to protect their health and livelihoods, to stand up for parents and children, and to defend freedom?”

Griffin’s email proceeded to list several instances when the co-hosts of The View criticized DeSantis. One instance was Sunny Hostin calling the Florida governor “Death-Santis” in June 2022, and another was Joy Behar calling DeSantis a “homicidal sociopath.” The email also listed Ana Navarro calling DeSantis’s policies “anti-Black,” “anti-gay,” and “anti-American.”
Christina Pushaw, DeSantis’s press secretary, called the response “perfect,” adding that nothing makes Democrats angrier than “seeing their own insane words repeated back to them in black and white.”
Perfect. There is nothing that infuriates liberals more than seeing their own insane words repeated back to them in black and white.

DeSantis, widely seen as a top-tier Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential election should he decide to run, was compared to former President Donald Trump by Behar in July. Equating DeSantis to Trump, she said, “Why trade a headache for an upset stomach?”
