THE DAILY OUTRAGE: Teacher training

WHO: Columbus City School District, Columbus, Ohio

WHAT: The school district used $145,000 in federal grants to rent marble-clad banquet halls and hotels for a three-day conference to train its teachers.

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: The district owns 120 buildings, so surely one of them should be suitable for teacher training. The money would be better spent educating children.

WHERE TO VENT: Call Gene T. Harris, superintendent of Columbus City Schools, at 614-365-5000.
