Ted Cruz calls Al Franken ‘obnoxious’ for mocking him in new book

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, called his colleague Al Franken “obnoxious” for dedicating an entire chapter in his new book to the Republican senator from Texas, according to a report.

“Al is trying to sell books and apparently he’s decided that being obnoxious and insulting me is good for causing liberals to buy his books,” Cruz told Politico.

“I wish him all the best,” Cruz added.

Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., said on Tuesday that he “hate[s] Ted Cruz” during an interview promoting his new book “Al Franken: Giant of the Senate,” He also said he dedicated an entire chapter of the book to Cruz, titled “Sophistry,” in which he describes the senator as “swarmy” and “singularly dishonest.”

Franken reportedly defended the fact he was willing to break protocol and describe interactions with Cruz because the Texas senator had already done so when he said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told a “lie” on the Senate floor.

When Politico asked Cruz about Franken’s reasoning, the senator simply closed the conversation with: “Said what I’m going to say.”
