Trump not a fan of eagle-killing wind energy

Donald Trump says he has a big problem with wind energy projects killing hundreds of eagles.

The GOP nominee in previewing a major energy speech Thursday discussed his views on renewable energy.

Besides wind energy being too expensive, and needing federal subsidies to complete, it is also killing hundreds of bald eagles, the national bird.

“Wind is very expensive,” he said, but it is also “killing hundreds and hundreds of eagles.”

He said it unthinkable for an individual person to kill an eagle, but wind turbines are “killing by the hundreds.”

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service earlier this month proposed upping the number of eagles allowed to be incidentally killed by an energy project from 1,130 to 4,200.

The agency says the bald eagle population is healthy enough to sustain added losses.
