Joe Biden attacked a voter during a campaign event in Iowa after being asked about his son’s position on the board of a Ukrainian natural gas firm.
A voter asked Biden, “We all know Trump has been messing around in Ukraine over there holding their foreign aid for them to come up saying they’re going to investigate you … But you, on the other hand, sent your son over there to get a job and work for a gas company that he had no experience in gas, nothing, in order to get access to the president.”
He added, “You’re selling access to the president just like he is.”
Biden cut him off, calling the man a “damn liar.” He added, “That’s not true. And no one has ever said that.”
The man claimed he saw people criticizing Hunter Biden on television. Biden then criticized the man for being “sedentary” and watching TV. He also challenged the man to a pushup contest or a foot race.
“The reason I’m running is because I’ve been around a long time, and I know more than most people now, and I can get things done,” Biden said.
He continued to berate the man, saying, “I did not on any occasion, and no one has ever said it. You said I set up my son to work in an oil company. Isn’t that what you said? Get your words straight, Jack.”
The man pushed back, telling Biden, “It looks like you don’t have any more backbone than Trump does.”
Biden, 77, was running Ukrainian diplomatic efforts under President Obama while his son, Hunter, accepted a high-paying job on the board of Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian natural gas firm. Obama’s Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch admitted that she had been prepared by the administration to answer questions about the apparent conflict of interest about Biden’s ties to Ukraine.
