President Joe Biden will deliver a speech in Warsaw, Poland, likely laying out his plans and view of the war in Ukraine as a battle for democracy.
The speech will come one day after Biden made an unannounced visit to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and reaffirm the United States’s support of Ukraine in its fight against Russia ahead of the one-year anniversary of the invasion on Friday.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan called the visit “unprecedented in modern times to have the president of the United States visit the capital of a country at war where the United States military does not control the critical infrastructure.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin took aim at the U.S. during his state of the nation address, claiming that Western nations “started the war.”
The White House gave the Kremlin prior warning of Biden’s visit to Kyiv, with the state-controlled Russian media portraying it as an act of asking permission.
