Former President Bill Clinton is celebrating fifteen years of the Clinton Foundation. Clinton’s calling his work there a success — and asking supporters to pitch in more money to keep the work going.
“When the Clinton Foundation opened its doors 15 years ago, we had 14 employees and one big idea: that we could overcome our world’s toughest problems by empowering people to lift up themselves and their communities,” Clinton writes in an email today to supporters.
“We’ve achieved more than we ever thought possible, and when people ask me how, I always say the same thing: You are the secret to our success.
“What not everyone knows is that around 90% of Clinton Foundation donors give $100 or less – it’s all of us coming together that makes it possible to improve millions of lives around the world.
“But with challenges still in front of us – like advancing equality for girls and women and fighting climate change – we can’t slow down.
“Fifteen years in, I’m writing to ask you to reaffirm your support for the next 15 years of life-changing work. Can you become one of 1,000 Founding Partners of our Foundation’s 15th Anniversary Drive with a contribution before Friday? Be one of the individuals who carries us forward.”
One person not mentioned in the email: Bill Clinton’s wife, Hillary, the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.
