After HBO Max removed the 1939 classic film Gone with the Wind from its library of streaming films, it moved to the top of the list of bestselling movies and TV shows on Amazon.
The movie was temporarily pulled after public outcry over its depictions of slavery and racism amid protests that have rocked the world the last two weeks following the death of George Floyd in police custody.
The Federalist reports other editions of Gone with the Wind also reached the top 10 list on Amazon on Wednesday, ranking at #8 and #9. The movie is also the top film of Amazon’s “Romance” category.
The movie won 10 Academy Awards, including one earned by Hattie McDaniel, who played a slave named Mammy, making her the first black person to win an Oscar.
