Area artists Joyce J. Scott, Jannette Witmyer and Kevin and Robbye Apperson recently held a party that was hot, hot, hot. Roy Cross and The Kevin Robinson Ensemble entertained the group of guests, which included Linda Day Clark and Chevelle Makeba Moore Jones, to name a few. Musicians and singers jumped in on the keyboards to do their thing. The hosts simply put a basket by the front door, and the guests came through in a big way, as $1,048 was raised for the Fuel Fund of Maryland. “This will help limited-income families afford home energy,” the Fuel Fund?s Lil Knipp said.
ROTARY CLUB HAS A GOOD THING GOING
More than 2,500 people filed into the National Guard Fifth Regiment Armory in Baltimore City last Saturday for the 86th annual Baltimore Rotary Club Bull & Oyster Roast and mega silent auction. Supporting the cause were Rotary President Neale Smith and his wife, Joan, who was volunteering at one of the gaming wheels, Baltimore County Judge Dana Levitz, Lou and Sandy Hargrave, event Chairman Keith Novak and U.S. Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger.
Past Rotary President Mike Daney told us that “all of the proceeds from this event will be pumped back into Baltimore City. Last year?s event raised almost $30,000 that was used to provide scholarships for kids in Baltimore, and I know this year we are going to be providing free dictionaries for kids.”
