Three students at Walt Whitman High School have been charged with arson in connection with fires authorities say were intentionally set at the school and at a White Flint park.
The blazes occurred April 8 at Walt Whitman, located at 7100 Whittier Blvd. in Bethesda, and March 20 at White Flint Neighborhood Park, located at 11605 Rokeby Ave. in Garrett Park.
Wyatt Dentel, 19, and two 17-year-olds whose names were not released because they are juveniles were arrested Monday, according to Scott Graham, assistant chief for Montgomery County fire and rescue.
Dentel is charged with second-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning and malicious destruction of property in connection with the park fire, Graham said. Authorities said playground equipment was burned at the park. Dentel is charged with accessory to arson in Walt Whitman blaze.
The two 17-year-olds are charged with second-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning and malicious destruction of property in both fires.
