Qatar has welcomed partnerships with airlines and the U.S. National Guard in preparation for the World Cup set in its city of Al-Khor.
The National Guard announced Tuesday its West Virginia members hosted a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear training exercise with members of the Qatar Weapons of Mass Destruction Unit and Qatar Military Medical Service. Their training took place in Charleston on Sunday.
“The exercise was the cumulating event wrapping up three weeks of intense CBRN training as the Qatari Armed Forces prepare to support the FIFA 2022 World Cup soccer tournament to be held later this year in Qatar,” the post read. “The West Virginia National Guard and Qatar have been partners through the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program since 2018.”
Qatar Airways announced Tuesday it has opened a flight route from Doha to Geneva. That route hasn’t been in service since November 2021, but now it will have four flights a week starting six days from the cup.
