Eric Trump: My father’s life has become ‘exponentially worse’ since running for president

Eric Trump believes President Trump’s life has become “exponentially worse” since he decided he wanted the country’s top job.

“My father’s life became exponentially worse the minute he decided to run for president. He didn’t need to do this, but he was immensely frustrated with where the country was going,” Eric Trump, the president’s second son, told Westchester Magazine.

“There would be far fewer headaches if it weren’t for politics,” Trump said, before adding the inconveniences were worth it “when you know you’re in it for the right reasons.”

Eric Trump was a fixture on his father’s 2016 presidential campaign, but since then as remained at Trump Organization as executive vice president rather than joining sister Ivanka Trump in an advisory capacity at the White House.

Given the high-profile nature of his role as a surrogate, Eric Trump said he was more forgiving of the resulting media scrutiny, but insisted his younger siblings deserved privacy.

“Every day, you get abused by somebody,” he said. “And the next thing you know, you’re being parodied on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ It comes with the territory. We stood center stage with my father during the campaign and beyond.”

“We are adults; we’ve developed a bit of an armor,” Eric Trump continued, referring to eldest brother Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump. “But Barron and Tiffany should be 100 percent off-limits.”

Though based in New York City, Eric Trump, wife Lara Trump, and Luke, their baby son, spend their weekends at their home in Westchester County. Eric Trump also spent weekends and summers in the area when he was younger “to get away from everything.”
