President Trump is doing better than presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in terms of favorability with older millennials and members of Generation X, according to a CNN poll released this week.
A total of 53% of voters between the ages of 35 and 49 say they support Trump and Republicans over Biden and Democrats. Fifty-one percent of voters ages 50-64 say they support Trump over Biden.
Nielsen Media Research defines millennials as anyone born between 1981 and 1996. Generation X contains people born between 1965 and 1980.
The poll, published on Monday, showed Trump nearly tied with Biden in 15 key battleground states ahead of the November election.
“The pool of battleground states in this poll includes more that Trump carried in 2016 (10) than were won by Hillary Clinton (5), reflecting the reality that the President’s campaign is more on defense than offense across the states,” Jennifer Agiesta, CNN’s polling director wrote. “Taken together, though, they represent a more Republican-leaning playing field than the nation as a whole.”
Despite the CNN poll, Biden still enjoys a sizable lead in most national polls.
