Flights into and out of Atlanta grounded due to power outage at world’s busiest airport

The Federal Aviation Administration ordered a halt to flights going into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday as the major hub for commercial flights deals with a power outage.

The airport said on Twitter that the outage “impacted several areas in the airport” and that they were working to restore it.

The disruption in traffic is likely to result in scores of delays for people traveling for the upcoming holiday.

The airport is the home hub for Delta Airlines, one of the biggest American air travel companies.

Millions of people are traveling this week for the holiday season. Delays such as the one on Sunday can have long-lasting effects into the week if it continues for long enough.

There were no immediate estimates on when power was likely to be returned.
