House Majority Whip Steve Scalise paid tribute to then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on the House floor in 2011 after she was shot in the head during a meeting with constituents in Tuscon, Ariz.
“I extend my prayers to the families of those who lost their lives, to the wounded and the recovering, and to our dear colleague Gabby Giffords,” Scalise said.
“Gabby is an energetic member of Congress, who works and enjoys the treats of all of those she meets with decency and kindness.”
