On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani had difficulty defending Donald Trump not paying income taxes.
Giuliani said that Trump not paying income taxes made him “smart.” Host Jake Tapper challenged that notion, asking if that made those who do pay income taxes are stupid. Giuliani said that all Americans work to minimize their taxes.

Giuliani also refused to say whether or not he himself has paid income taxes.

Tapper also brought up Trump’s suggestion that Hillary cheats on her husband Bill, and the fact that the campaign has been focusing on the former president’s indescretions. He asked whether “Donald Trump, and the people around Donald Trump, [are] really the ones to be casting aspersions on the marriages of anyone else?”
